ABOUT THE ARTIST
I am Rebecca Libby the daughter of five children born to Wesley & Mildred Libby of Brunswick, Maine. I was born in 1967 in Peterborough, NH and spent my early years on the Rose Farm in Lyndeborough, NH among the apple orchards and animals. I also lived in Fitchburg, MA throughout my teen years. In 1992 I moved to the country sites of Corinna, Maine.
Over the last few years I have been reflecting upon my life and what I have taken for granted. I was born with Congenital Heart Defects (CHD). I have had two open heart surgeries in my youth. I am so thankful for the strength of my family and the time I have been given because of those, then experimental, surgeries. One small way I try to show my gratitude is to donate a percentage of my profits as well as products to help raise awareness of Congenital Heart Disease (CHD). A couple facts many people are unaware of is that one out of every 125 babies born in the USA are born with one of the 35 different kinds of Congenital Heart Defect/Disease (CHD). Many of these defects are not discovered until there is a problem or when a child dies. While living here in Maine with my daughter I have been able to take the time to observe and to really appreciate nature as well as all of God’s magnificent creativity in it. The four seasons here in Maine each have their own amazingly unique beauty. I love to take the time to observe all of the spectacular colors, textures and beauty of the plants, trees, flowers and animals. I especially love the birds and butterflies which I try to capture in my paintings. I see my watercolor paintings as a way for me to express my love of everything nature has to offer.
