Maine Rustic

ss

I am a woodworker and most of my raw materials are from Maine. I create live edge tables, small wooden push and pull toys, various kinds of cutting boards, folk art, hand carved signs and I also focus on furniture restoration. I often utilize maple saplings in my tables. My furniture is on the rustic side with embedded stones or carved tabletops. My strongest influence is nature and it’s reflected in my work.

Love Rocks Me®

ss

:: Gifts with heart from the Maine coast ::

Using hundreds of heart shaped rocks collected on the coast of Maine for over 30 years, artist Ellen Thayer creates large flat-lay designs and photographs them from a ladder outdoors.  With nearly 250 designs in the series, the art is printed on note cards, candles, coasters, matted prints, trivets, notepads, magnets, stickers, and playing cards.

Downeast Dealer

ss

Downeast Dealer is a family-friendly card game for 3-5 players. Players compete to amass the most impressive yard sale items from around Maine. Bid on a moose trophy, or bargain for a lobster trap. Beware of bad checks and the village thief! Only the shrewedest Downeast “Deal-ah” will win!

Downeast Dealer was created by cousins Rob Olson and Jesse Harding to provide fun “games-around-the-kitchen-table” experiences with family and friends. The characters in the game are modeled after folks from the Machias area. The game was designed and manufactured here in Maine.

David Smus Sculpture

ss

My bronze sculptures are mostly limited and (some) unlimited editions all originally designed and sculpted at my workshop in Harmony ME.
They’re sculpted in clay and/or wax, mold-making is done here, and they’re cast in the traditional lost-wax process at foundries here in Maine (some elsewhere).
Original limited editions are available directly through me and sold at galleries on my website “Links” page. Unlimited editions are sold through my Etsy Shop only.
Unique commissions are also accepted and I design them myself (if preferred), or collaborate with clients who enjoy being a part of the process also.
These can be either one-of-a-kind or limited editions also – which is a decision made between the client and myself at the time of creation.

Our forest themed products are free from harsh chemicals and fragrances (we use only pure plant-based essential oils), making them a greener and healthier alternative to synthetically manufactured products which can be harmful to health and the environment. We hand craft air and body mists, foaming and bar soaps, hand & body lotion, and Maine Woods Bug Dope (a natural insect repellent). Our mists and soaps are available in ‘balsam fir’, ‘cedar’, ‘citrus & balsam’, and ‘lavender & spruce’ scents.

DMG Designs Metal & Jewelry

ss

Danielle Goulette’s work intertwines the elegance of nature with traditional silversmithing techniques, emphasizing the intrinsic value of plants, animals, and insects through her organic forms and imagery. Her handcrafted jewelry and silverwares use fine metals, such as sterling silver and gold as a means to honor the heritage of the craft of silversmithing. The meticulous methods of forging, raising, and chasing and repoussé create durable pieces that serve as both functional or wearable art, and as a reminder of the natural world’s significance.

Personal History

ss

Personal History is about stories – the stories of our lives and those of the people we care about. These stories may seem ever-present today, Personal History ensures that they remain so by meeting with you or your loved one, or by members of your community or organization.
Creating a personal history is about remembering, about conversation. As a sole proprietor, I speak with you, your loved one, your community member or associate, offering questions that generate stories. I listen, record, transcribe, then edit, arranging the words into a meaningful narrative that will forever carry the speaker’s voice. Whether the finished product is a handbound book complete with photos to tell the story of a person, a family, a community or an organization, – or just an audio of our conversations, the result may be one of your most cherished gifts, a precious touchstone to pass down through generations.
As a seasoned editor and writer, should you have your own writing, I can help coach, direct, and/or edit.
Think heirloom book, community history, personal memoir, family tribute, anniversary celebration, annotated photo album or cookbook, letter series, business chronicle, ethical will – or more.
The interviews are the raw material – they happen wherever you are comfortable [in Maine or not]. The writing, editing, design, and printing are all done within the state.
As I say in my website: Our stories are our heritage. They offer insights into who we are, remind us where we’ve been. Beyond the history of one family, our stories are the history of a community, a people, a world. And so we must preserve them.
